Wow, what an incredible article from Doom And Bloom. I gotta say, I thought I was fully squared away in the First Aid department… I found two items I hadn’t even considered!!!
Remember, you need a kit with GREAT organization. With a life on the line, you don’t want to waste 10 minutes searching for that life saving item. For starters, separate your FAK (First Aid Kit) into categories. Bleeding, Breathing, Mobility (splints, casts, tape), and Medication. We keep our kit color coded. Red for bleeding, Blue for breathing, green for mobility, and Yellow for medication. We use the same system in our Bug Out Bags for continuity. How much time have you put into building your First Aid Kit? Have you out ANY time into training? Do you really know how to splint a break? Can you properly suture a wound? Find a class in your area. Check with the local community college, fire department, or police department. They may not be hosting the class but, odds are, they’ll know who is.
Good luck and stay safe!
By the way, look for the “Printer Friendly” button with their article… You’ll want a hard copy. I did!
